Chapter Five

Eight thirty a.m., Ethan looked at the digital clock on the dashboard of his Mercedes as he pulled through the gates of the Tremaine mansion. He pressed the button of the wireless remote to close them again as he listened to the radio and tapped his hands against the steering wheel. He was in a great mood. How could he not be? There was an amazing woman in his bed, and the night had been amazing. He woke up with her snuggled under him and his hand on her belly. He lay so still, hoping he could feel the baby move under his hand. But nothing happened, so he assumed, like Mommy, the little one was fast asleep.

At two in the afternoon, they were going to be married. Easton was going to be a witness, and so would Robin. Today he was going to become the happiest man in the world. “You asked to see me?” Kyle said and sat down.

“Did I ask you to sit?” Ethan asked directly.

“No, but I assumed this was a meeting...”

Ethan raised his hand to silence Kyle. “Your problem is you assume. Your next few answers will decide what happens when I fire you. Not if but when, because trust me, you won’t be working here past today.”

“Oh, I get it. You’re getting rid of me because of Mya and the kid.” A short laugh escaped Kyle, and Ethan made a fist on the desk, willing himself not to pull the little prick over the desk and punch his face in. “In that case, we are talking
